Describe the metabolic effects of liver failure.
Please be specific!
Metabolic effect of liver failure are as follows:
1. Liver failure has a big impact on carbohydrates metabolism because it controls the processes like glycogenesis and glycogenolysis and liver failure will affect the homeostasis of glucose which could result in insulin resistance and glucose intolerance etc.
2. Liver failure will affect the amino acids metabolism. The plasma levels of branched amino acids are decreased and of aromatic amino acids (AAA) are increased.
3. Liver failure can affect drug clearance by reducing drug-metabolizing capacity, reducing the synthesis of plasma proteins, and altering liver blood flow
4. Due to liver failure the endotoxins wouldn't get metabolised and elemenated.
