If both the alleles express completely and simultaneously in a heterozygote, it is called codominance. The most popular example is the expression of blood types. Some other examples are

1. Sickle cell anemia - if an individual is heterozygous for sickle cell allele, half of the RBC will be sickle shaped. The normal and abnormal cells will be expressed equally.

2. The Roan coat colour of horse is another example. Here, red and white hair are equally expressed.

3. Flower colour in plants. Crossing of two plants with different petal colours which are codominant by nature, will produce multi coloured petals in the progeny. Example is Rhododendron plant.

4. The feather colour in chicken. Chicken with black and white feathers exhibits codominance.
