Option (a) is correct : DNA renaturation takes longer than denaturation.

DNA denaturation or melting is defined as separation of two strands of DNA to form single strands. DNA renaturation is a spontaneous reversible process, and is performed under controlled conditions of pH and ionic strength. Also, the temperature has to be gradually decreased, because of which renaturation is a slow process. The rate of renaturation depends on the type of sequence present in the DNA strand, unique sequences take more time to reanneal than do repetitive sequences.
