Answer: Human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) is a lentivirus that attack helper T- cells, macrophages and dendritic cells. This virus reduce the number of helper T-cells in the body, leading to failure of the immune system ( cell mediated immunity) to fight infections and cause acquired immunodeficiency syndrome and cancer. Hence, option b is the correct answer. HIV attacks immune cells but does not recreational drug users. Hence, option A is incorrect. HIV reduce the production of helper T cells and hence option C is incorrect. HIV attacks macrophages but does not increase the number of antibodies. Hence, option D is incorrect.
