What makes the nuclear envelope different from the cell membrane?
Nuclear envelope is made up of 2 parallel membranes with a space called perinuclear between them.outer membrane of nucleus is continuous with endoplasmic reticulam and sometimes bears ribosome on it.
Nuclear envelope is interrupted by number of small pores formed by fusion of 2 membranes.through which RNA and proteins move.so it is not a continuous envelope it is disrupted at these places.
Cell membrane is made up of lipids that is arranged bilayer with proteins in between them.in cell membrane there is no pore like that on nuclear envelope.
So the main difference between nuclear envelope and cell membrane is that nuclear envelope is not a continuous one but cell membrane is a continuous one.
