1) Adipocytes are continuously synthesising TAG. this synthesis always requires glucose supply. What does glucose provide for TAG synthesis?

-Acetyl CoA
-NADH
-NADPH
-ATP
-Glycerol

2) The phosphorolytic cleavage of glycogen is more advantageous than the hydrolytic due to which of the following?

-It is faster
-Glucose can enter into glycolytic pathway
-Can avoid hormonal control
-ATP is required

Homework Answers

Answer #1

1.Glycerol

The glycerol is required for TAG (Triacylglycerol) synthesis. In this process, the fatty acids are added to the glycerol backbone to form TAG. The glycerol is obtained form glucose supplied.

2. The glucose produced can enter into glycolitic pathway directly.

The product of phosphorolytic cleavage of glycogen doesn't need to be phosphorylated at the expense of an ATP to make it enter into the glycolitic pathway like in the case of hydrolitic cleavage. So, It is energy efficient.
