Eukaryotic cells can perform both aerobic cellular respiration and anaerobic cellular respiration Prokaryotic cells can only perform anaerobic cellular respiration - why?

Homework Answers

Answer #1

Respiration are of two types aerobic respiration and anaerobic respiration, respiration takes place in the presence O2 and anaerobic respiration takesplace in the absence of oxygen. Anaerobic respiration takesplace in the cytoplasm of the cell , so it takes place in both prokaryotes and eukaryotes, Aerobic respiration takes place in eukaryotes only because it takesplace in the mitochondria of the cell, mitochondria is absent in prokaryotic cell., prokaryotes are simple organisms they get enough energy from anaerobic respiration process, but eukaryotes are complex organism which require more amount of energy ,so they obtain higher amount of energy from aerobic respiration.

Some explanations of glycolysis, lactic acid fermentation and aerobic cellular respiration seem to indicate that your cells SWITCH between the two options to finish glycolysis: lactic acid fermentation OR cellular respiration. This is not the case! Your cells do not choose EITHER lactic acid fermentation OR aerobic cellular respiration. Which of the following statements is true regarding the differences between prokaryotic and eukaryotic cells? Eukaryotic cells can be found in both unicellular and organisms while prokaryotic cells are all unicellular. multicellular Both eukaryotic cells and prokaryotic cells have a membrane-bound nucleus. Zukaryotic celle appeared before prokaryotic cells. Prokaryctic celle include protiata, plants, animais and fungi.
