Eukaryotic cells can perform both aerobic cellular respiration and anaerobic cellular respiration Prokaryotic cells can only perform anaerobic cellular respiration - why?
Respiration are of two types aerobic respiration and anaerobic respiration, respiration takes place in the presence O2 and anaerobic respiration takesplace in the absence of oxygen. Anaerobic respiration takesplace in the cytoplasm of the cell , so it takes place in both prokaryotes and eukaryotes, Aerobic respiration takes place in eukaryotes only because it takesplace in the mitochondria of the cell, mitochondria is absent in prokaryotic cell., prokaryotes are simple organisms they get enough energy from anaerobic respiration process, but eukaryotes are complex organism which require more amount of energy ,so they obtain higher amount of energy from aerobic respiration.
