Why is leguminous crop rotation used in agriculture?
Leguminous crops are rotationally used in agriculture
Example: pea
Because the Rhizobium Bacteria present in the root nodules of the plant will fix the atmospheric nitrogen into ammonia by combining nitrogen and hydrogen by using Nitrogenase enzyme
The ammonia form only utilised by the plants for the synthesis of nutrients but not the nitrogen form
This is a symbiotic relationship where bacteria will be supplied with carbon energy source where plants get amino acids for their metabolism
