Answer #1

Degenerative nerve diseases are mainly caused by losd neurons function in body leads to loss of body activities, such as balance, movement, talking, breathing, and heart function. Most of these diseases are genetic in nature.

Main diseases are

  • Alzheimer's Disease: protein misfolding of beta amyloid protein
  • Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS): missense mutations in the gene encoding the antioxidant enzyme Cu/Zn superoxide dismutase 1 in astrocytes leads to loss of motor function.
  • Parkinsons disease: accumulation of alpha synuclein in neurones.
  • Prions: proteinaceous causitive agents and these are transmissible spongiform encephalopathies (TSE's) are a group of progressive neurodegenerative conditions and caused by prion protein.
  • Huntington disease: loss of transport of proteins to lysosomal system and loss of function of dynin and microtubules

HUNTINGTON’S DISEASE is an autosomal dominantly inherited, degenerative human disease of the nervous system. Individuals homozygous for this dominant gene almost always die as a fetus. The disease has no obvious phenotypic effects in a heterozygous individual, until a person is about 35-40 years old, well into child-rearing years. There is no known cure for this genetic disease. D.    Determine the results of a mating between a person who will get Huntington’s disease and one who will not develop...
