What is the mechanism by which the AIDS virus causes deficiency of immune system of the infected person?

Homework Answers

Answer #1

AIDS or Acquired Immuno Deficiency Syndrome is occured by Human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) . When HIV virus infects a person it goes to the macrophages where the viral RNA replicates to produce viral DNA with the help of reverse transcriptase enzyme. This viral DNA can incorporate with host DNA and control further the synthesis of viral particles. Additionally, the HIV virus can enter inside helper T-lymphocyte and replicates to produce more viral progeny which get released into blood and infects more helper T-lymphocyte. This results in decrese in the number of healthy T.lymphocyte in the body weakining the immune system.
