What is vaccination? What is the role of vaccines in body? Give two examples when immediate response is needed by body to defend it, name this type of immunization.
Vaccination is define as adminstration of specific antigenic material inside the human beings in order to induce immune response against the particular pathogenic organism which leads to disease. It can be in form of inactive pathogen, subunit of antigenic protein ,Attenuated pathogen (less virulent),recombinent DNA .
It triggers adaptive immnune response (T cells and B cells) to produce plasma cells which will immediately act upon the pathogen and memory cells which prevent the future infection by same pathogen.
There are mainly two types of immunization
1.Passive immunization - immunity is acquired during fetal stage from maternal placenta during birth
2.Active immunization- In case like snake bite and tetanus immediate response is required to cure the infection.hence, immunity is provided in form of horse antivenin or introducing human isolated immunoglobins directly into the body.
