Convergent evolution is illustrated by

(a) rat and dog

(b) bacterium and protozoan

(c) starfish and cuttle fish

(d) dogfish and whale

Homework Answers

Answer #1

D.) Dog fish and whale.

Convergent evolution means the animals having same function but they evolved from different parents. Basically, the functioning or trait they develop becomes similar to other organism which does not relate to it but also posses the same characteristics in the same niche. Here both fishes are evolved differently as dog fish is in class pisces where whale is a mammal yet both of them posses the characteristics which makes it suitable to live and swim in sea.
