What is peer review? How is it different from the normal editing process that a news article might go through before being published in a newspaper or a magazine?

Peer review is a evaluation process of research work by one or more subject experts. It is done to maintain the quality and creditabiliy of the research work. In the the process the experts are more often from the same work group.

The peer review is done for the quality check and creditabiliy of the research work for publication. If the pair review is not done carefully, the time, expanse and labour have to be wasted. But in news article there has no creditabiliy for publication.
