Fisheries deals with catching, preservation, utilization of aquatic animals such as fishes, prawns,lobsters. Fisheries is of high importance to human being, it is the rich source of proteins and easily available. Fisheries bridges the gap between malnutrition and inverse proportion between growing population and food products. some of the important products obtained from fishes are fish oil, fish flour, fish guano and fish meal, fish sillage, fish solubles sharks fin, fish skin, fish glue etc. In some areas due to encroachment water is the only source of obtaining food. Fishes are the main source of food in such areas. Fishery is also an employment generating industry especially for people staying in coastal areas both fresh water fishes eg, catla & roju. Marine water fishes eg, tuna, mackerel and pomfret.
