some of the limitations of ecological pyramids are as:-

1. Saprophytes are not represented in the environment however they play an important role in the environment.

2. some species occupy one more trophic levels because they have different mode of nutrition both carnivorous and herbivorous and thus makes it difficult to represent in the trophic level take the example of man which feeds both on plants and animals for food thus becomes diffucult to represent man in tropic levels.

3. one of the most important thing is that it only represents the simple food chain but does not represent food web.
