Mycorrhiza is symbiotic relationship between the plants and fungi both are mutually benefited from this association.Fungi normally colonize themselves in the root cells of the plants in the arbascular tissues and intake carbohydrates directlly from it which help fungi to survive.

1)Plants are benefited as fungi help their nutrient uptake efficiency from the soil because of large surface area of fungal hyphae associated.This will also help in plant growth and development.

2)Microrrhiza make plant resistant to various soil pathogen by providing sheath of fungus around root.

3)This association help plant to grow even in unfavourable condition includes high salt concentration, presence of heavy metals,drought condition (water scarcity).
