In which one of the following enzymes, is copper necessarily associated as an activator?

(a) carbonic anhydrase

(b) tryptophanase

(c) lactic dehydrogenase

(d) tyrosinase.

Answer #1

answer (d): (d) tyrosinase. The supplementary nonprotein cofactor can be inorganic, which are known as activators. These are minerals of dissimilar types like Ca, Fe, Cu, Zn, Mn etc. Copper is related as an activator with tyrosinase, which is extensively spread in plants, animals and man. It is also called as polyphenol oxidase or catecholase. Copper oxidizes tyrosine to melanin in mammals as well as mekes the cut surfaces of many fruits along with land vegetable to darken.
