Detritus means organic matter which is formed by decomposition dead animals and plants along with other decomposed waste matters in soil. Microorganisms that help decompose these materials (like difefrent parts of plants) to form detritus are the ones directly breaking down the food (the plant parts build from food made from phosynthesis) formed by primary producers(plants). so his direct food chain from primary producer to consumer is called detritus chain.
