Define "funny" sodium channel
"Funny" Sodium channel is the channel which passed the cardiac "pacemaker" I(f) current. The 'funny' (pacemaker, I(f)) current is a mixed sodium/potassium inward current, activated on hyperpolarisation in the diastolic range of voltages. In this diastolic range spontaneous and rhythmic action potentials (AP) is generated.
The function of funny channel in pacemaking makes funny channels an obvious target for drugs aiming at regulation of spontaneous activity and cardiac rate.
