define ITAM motife
Immunoreceptor tyrosine based activation motif.
These are cell surface proteins of immune cells which are part of immune system.
They have 4 amino acid sequence which are present in repeatedly twice in cytopladmic tails.
In its structure the first of the four amino acif is tyrosine and fourth amino acid is leu or ile.
These are important in signal transduction of immune cells. They occurs as tail of CD3 and T cell receptors.
The tyrosine molecule of this motif undergo phosphorylation and conducts various signalling patheway.
