An example of ongoing natural selection that dramatically affects humans is the evolution of drug-resistant strains of pathogenic bacteria that can proliferate very quickly. With that in mind, explain how the following statement is inaccurate. "Antibiotics have created drug resistance in MRSA."

Answer #1

It is not the drug that have caused the bacteria to become resistent, but the overuse of drug makes the bacteria to adapt to the environment and undergoes mutations and thus become resistant to such antibiotics.MRSA is resistant not only to the antibiotics mathicillin, but also to other suites of our drugs, making it very difficult to treat and occassionally deadly.Modern strains of MRSA however did not show up the resistance.A single plasmid can carry the genes to resist many different antibiotics.
