what kind of chemical bond is found between nucleotide of polynucleotide

a) hydrogen

b)ionic

c)covalent

d) sulfydyl

e) phosphodiester

Homework Answers

Answer #1

Answer:(e)  phosphodiester

A phosphodiester bond forms between nucleotides to form nucleic acids. The phosphodiester bond is a covalent bond that exists between the two nucleotides.Nucleotides are joined together by covalent bonds between the phosphate group of one nucleotideand the third carbon atom of the pentose sugar in the next nucleotide in a polynucleotide. This produces an alternating backbone of sugar - phosphate - sugar - phosphate all along the polynucleotide chain.
