Pigs are the natural intermediate host. Pigs being coprozoic feed on garbages and human excreta. Onchospheres are released in their intestine. The shell dissolves and hexacanth ( 6 - hooked ) larva is liberated. It is activated by bile salts. It reaches muscles and forms encysted bladderworm or cysticercus. It can alive upto 6 months. The pork having bladderworms is measly. If under cooked , it causes infection in humans. Taenia solium causes taeniasis .
