-In mammals Atcase forms part of the CAD which catayzes several steps in Pyrimidine biosynthesis,since pyrimidine is essential for DNA synthesis.

-Atcase inhibitors such as PALA has potential for slowing tumor growth in cancer

- Aspartate binds to active site,which leads to conformational change that close the active site and bring the substrate together for catalysis
