I wanted to make sure I was on the right track,
pain and temperature afferent fibre, goes to dorsal horn, goes to thalamus, goes to somatosensory in cerebrum, goes to amygdala hypothalamus, peri aquaduct gland, dorsal horn of spinal cord (where it hurts) and then antereolateral system.
this is a neuroscience question regarding pain
Pain, Temperature and touch sensations are carried by Anterolateral Spinothalamic tract where touch sensations is carried by anterior and pain and temperature sensation by lateral pathway.
First order primary afferent neurons cross the midline and synapse in the anterior horn of spinal cord. Thereafter second order neurons ascend up and synapse in the Ventroposterolateral nucleus of thalamus. Third order neuron projects from thalamus to Somatosensory cortex, Amygdala , Hippocampus , Periaqueductal grey and Basal gangia
