What does a positive DAT means?
Postive DAT means the direct antiglobulin test or it is also called Direct Coombs test. It is actually a blood test which is used to diagnose a kind of anemia caused by our immune system. A positive direct antiglobulin test does not necessarily mean anything, many people with positive direct antiglobulin tests have no problem at all. Positive DAT are seen in adult patients causing autoantibodies and certain drug-induced hemolytic events. New born babies with hemolytic disease are prone to this positive DAT disease.
