By retaining a plasma membrane and staying alive, what do you think sieve tube cells can do that xylem cells can not do?

Homework Answers

Answer #1

Through phloem, plants transport sugars. Like the xylem, end to end connection of tube cells make phloem. However, unlike the xylem cells, the phloem sieve tubes as well as companion cells aren’t dead(Living).

  1. In sieve tubes cell nucleus is absent at maturity.
  2. it supports in the food transport from leaves to place of storage.
  3. it experiences all the living process like cellular respiration and
  4. However passage of substance not followed by dead cells from their plasma membrane but seive tube doe.

but, mature xylem is made up of dead cells that lack cell contents, therefore,i think that sieve tube cells can stay alive by retaining a plasma membrane but xylem cells can not do so.
