Describe the sequence of events during an inflammatory response. Identify the cause for each of the symptoms observed during an inflammatory response.
Inflammatory response occurs when tissues are injured by bacteria, toxins, heat or any other cause. The damaged cells release chemicals including histamine,bradykinin and prostaglandins. These chemicals cause blood vessels to leack fluid into the tissues,causing swelling.
The inflammatory response is a defense mechanism that evolved in higher organisms to protect them from infection and injury. It's purpose is to localize and eliminate the injurious agent and to remove damaged tissue components so that the body can begin to heal.
The sequence of events in inflammatory response include;
1) Initial tissue damage and local activation of inflammatory factors
2) Inflammation - driven breakdown of the blood- brain barrier
3) recruitment of circulating inflammatory cells and subsequent secondary immunopathology
4)Engagement of tissue repair
