Understand why trees lose 90+ % of all water they take up to the atmosphere
Among the absorbed water from soil trees lose 90 percent of water due to the process called transpiration. It is a process by which plants lost the water in the form of vapour through aerial parts of the plants especially through stomata.
Transpiration is very much essential for the plants to absorb the water from the soil since it creates transpiration pull that creates suction pressure. By the help of suction pressure plants absorbs and transports water through xylem.
Water from the root hair reaches leaf through xylem and in leaf it reaches stomata. From stomata it vaporises to atmosphere. Only a small amount of water in the leaf is utilised for photosynthesis.
Transpiration is called as necessary evil ! Because without transpiration water can not absorbed and transported in the plant so it is necessary !! But 90% of absorbed water is lost in the form of vapour so it is evil !
