Marine Biology Question- What is "Biodiversity"?

Homework Answers

Answer #1

Biodiversity is the term that explains the variability of different life forms on the earth. This variability or diversity is considered at different levels of biological organization including genes, species, and ecosystems. The genetic variability within a specific species arises due to their unique genetic arrangement that differs from one individual to another. The species diversity includes the number of different animals and plant that share a common region of land. Enrichment of biodiversity depends on the number of different species in any particular region, and it is considered that each species’s contribution is essential to maintain the biodiversity of this particular region. Ecosystem diversity is considered for a specific geographical region like a country or state. The ecosystem diversity can be classified as terristorial, grassland, dessert, marine, river ecosystem etc.
