Viridiplantae = virida means green and plantae means shoot.

*Viridiplantae has two major kingdoms 1. chlorobionta and 2.streptobionta.

1..chlorobionta is the green algae

2. Streptobionta is the charophyte algae and embryophytic land plants .

The embryophytes are the typical plants that have heteromorphic alternation of generation adapted to a terrestrial existence and produce gametangia that have sterile tissue.

Under embryophytic plants comes the Bryophytes, Vascular cryptogams, Gymnosperms and angiosperms.
