Carbon cycle is a gaseous cycle and relates with photosynthesis and other gaseous cycles. Photosynthesis acts as a sink point of carbon dioxide. Apart from photosynthesis, oceans act as major sinks for carbon. Carbon present in the atmosphere also is generated from burning fossil fuels, which moves and mixes with oxygen forms into other forms of carbon like carbon monoxide, carbon dioxide etc. These oxides of carbon particularly carbon monoxide and carbon dioxide are green house gases and are responsible for global warming resulting in higher surface temperatures on earth.
