In vectored vaccine, a very weak virus is used, To generate imune response, a vaccine use peices of pathogen and in vectored vaccine they are transported with the help of very weak virus. For eg. Adenovirus is used in generation of vectored vaccine. Surface proteins, which are found on surface of the pathogen has the capacity to code for antigen. Now, to prepare such vector, surface protein of pathogen is inserted into the DNA of adenovirus. Adenovirus is not pathogenic and when they are introduced in the body they will express that particular surface protein. This protein expression will kick start the imune response.
