A rabbit rancher reports that a single male rabbit among a litter is observed to have an unusual fur texture that would be a valuable source for garments. He asks your advice on how to raise more rabbits like this. You know which animals are his parents, neither of which have this fur texture. Choose a major mode of Mendelian inheritance and then describe which genetic crosses you could perform using this rabbit to maximize the percentage of offspring with the unusual fur phenotype.
Mode of Inheritance Chosen: ___________________________________
The mode of inheritance is simple single gene of dominance.
In this phenomenon, The dominant gene can express her character either in homozyous condtion or in heterozygous in condition, where as recessieve allele expresses her character only in homozyous condition only.
Here, as from the normal parents, the offspring with unusal fur observed, which means that these two parents are in heterozygous in condtion, and the offspring with unusal fur is in homozygous recesseive in conditon. To get the maximize offspring with the same phenotype the only possbilities of cross between two unsual fur rabbits (the all offspring would be unusual fur) or cross between the one of the parent with unsual fur rabbit (which produces 1/2 of the unsual fur rabbits.)
