Conjugation: is a type of recombination in bacteria which involves the transfer of DNA from one bacterium to another via direct cell contact. It is discovered by the Lederberg and Tatum in E.coli. The pilli is required for the conjugation which is coded by the F-plasmid or conjugative plasmid/sex factor. The bacteria which have the F-plasmid are conjugative i.e. they have the capacity carry conjugation.

Sirenin is the first fungal sex hormone discovered by the Leonard Machlis in 1958. The female gametes & gametangia of fungi belonging to the chytridiomycete genus produce the Sirenin to attract the male gametes of Allomyces.
