Discuss the importance of various types of roots

There is mainly two types of root in true root system one is arising from redical part of the plant called tap root system Other are adventitious root . Tap root are also called primary roots and adventitious are root are called secondry root. Primary roots provide attachment or origin for secondry roots also.

Anither type is diffuse root system in which tap root is not usually dominant.

Specailised roots -these are roots which are 6specailised for a function.

1. Aeriating roots are the roots which transort air through them e.g.pneumatophore.
2. Contractile roots these have generally wrinkled surface and are large sized.
3. Fine roots are excessively branched and provide attachment to mycorhizzae
4. Stilt roots are arising from branches and grow towards ground to support tree.
5. Structural roots provide structure to plants
6. Tuberous roots are food storing and are also called fleshy roots.
