Answer #1

Two ways by which an excited electron can loose energy

a) Excited electron can loose energy by de-exciting to lower energy level by emitting a photon. It can happen inside an atom where the excited electon comes down to the lower energy level and loose its energy by releasing a photon with the equivalent energy of exciting.

b) Excited electron can also loose energy by colliding with non-excited electron. The energy exchange occurs during the collision between the excited and non-excited electron. This process leads to the heating of the system.
