Describe Menel Law of segregation and Law of independent assortment

Describe Menel Law of segregation and Law of independent assortment

Homework Answers

Answer #1

According to Mendel,

Law of segregation states that a pair of factors is segregated or separated during the formation of gametes. It is for monohybrid cross that is for single trait. Each allele segregates into separate allele. It is established by metaphase I.

Law of independent assortment states that factors for different characteristics are distributed to gametes independently. It is for dihybrid or more than that trait crosses. It is also established by metaphase I but linked genes are the exception as they don't assort independently.
