What does "alloimmunization to HLA" mean?
Introduction of foreign antigens from individuals of same species boost immune response of body leading to formation of antibody against those non self antigens. This process is defined as alloimmunization. If antibodies are formed against antigens in the HLA(human leucocyte antigen) system this is called HLA alloimmunization. It is a major concern of medical biology because when patients need to transplant organ or stem cell it causes rejection of that foreign organ/stem cell termed as graft rejection.
