!- cellular rational for telomers and telomerase

2-Reasons to enhance telomerase production/activity

3-Reasons to inhibit telomerase production/activity

Homework Answers

Answer #1

1.  Telomers and telomerase elongates chromosomes by adding TTAGGG sequences to the end of existing chromosomes. They are found in fetal tissues, adult germ cells, and tumor cells.

2.  Reduced telomerase activity leads to depression, anxiety, increased sensitivity to illness, and shorten life expectancy due to increased aging.

3. As telomerase activity is also seen in cancer cell it could lead to cellular immortalization and enhance the progression of cancer.
