The seagrass helps sediments to settle, while their roots form a dense and secure network which helps in holding and packing the sediment firmly and increase the threshold velocity for sediment motion. Sediment stabilization ensures that the sediments are not lost due to strong tidal waves and natural calamities like hurricanes. Collaterally, sediment stabilization also increases water clarity, as the stabilizers help to sediment particulate matter.
