It has been proposed that a feature that is advantageous to individual organisms is the reason for the great number of species in certain groups. For example, wings have been postulated to have led to the great diversity of winged insects compared with the few species of wingless insects. How could an individually advantageous feature cause greater species diversity? Explain your reasoning.

Evolution of wings anf the flight have greater contribution to the unparallel success and diversity of insects. In evolutionary point of view wings not only used for flight mechanism it also has some other function also. Wings initially evolved for thoracic and abdominal segments of aquatic nymphs as structures used in ventilation and gas exchange. Also it used for thermoregulation to increase body temperature by absorbing radiation, thus allowing more vigorous or longer periods of locomotory activity. And most important it used for flight mechanism which makes easy to move from one place to another place in short period of time. In evolution point of view it migrate where
