Cefotaxime inhibits mucopeptide synthesis by binding to and inactivating penicillin binding proteins so interfere with the last transpeptidation step .

Vancomycin target enzymes that facilitate cell wall formation. These are family of glycopeptides. They are large molecules that bind to the peptide chain of peptidoglycan
