In vitro condition cell faces many problems and these problems decrease the cell viability . Like we culture a plant tissue , in nature the tissue is phototrophic but in medium this becomes heterotrophic . Microenvironment also changed . Older cells produce toxin which is harmful to nearby cells and these toxins also change the media composition. Other microorganisms can infect easily because the mechanism against microbes of organism abolished in vitro condition. So in vitro condition the viability of the cell decrease.
