Optimal flock size in birds plays a major role as they have a no. Of banefits by living in optimal sized flocks. Larger flocks and smaller flocks have a no. Of disadvantages as smaller flocks if faces a predators they are more prone to be killed. They have lesser mating partners etc. But increasing to a very large size also have some disadvantages as they have to travel more to get their food,also larger flock size are more easily spotted by the preadators. Random dispresal of species are rarest as the organism get their food according to their trophic level and only exist according to chances to get nutrition and the environment with it they interact.
