Self antigen :- is that originate in our own body
Non self antigen. :- is those antigen that do not originate in body or enter the body from outside (foreign antigen).
Immune cells called lymphocytes distinguish self from no self because cells have an identification molecule on their surface called antigen.
Cells with MHC molecules on their surface are recognised as bodies own cell i.e self cell whereas cells with antigen (foreign antigen)on their surface are recognised as a foreign cells or non self by body.
