All cell walls contain the same components.

True

False

Rough endoplasmic reticulum has ribsomes embedded in it, while smooth endoplasmic reticulum does not.

True

False

Which of the following structures is NOT found in a prokaryote?

Cytoplasm

Golgi apparatus

Plasma membrane

Glycocalyx

Homework Answers

Answer #1

1.False, Allcellwall doesnot contain same components. It varies from species to species. Like plant cellwall contain polysaccharies cellulose, hemicellulose, pectin, lignin and cutin. Algae posses cellwall having glycoprotein and polysaccarides. Bacteria have peptidoglycan in their cell wall. Like this all species have different cellwall components.

2.True, Rough endoplasmic reticulum have ribosomes whereas smooth endoplasmic reticulum doesnot have. That"s so why smooth endoplasmic reticulum also called agranular endoplasmic reticulum.

3.Only golgi apparatus is not found in prokaryotic cell.Glycocalyx is mostly present in eukaryotic cell and bacterial cell. Main function of glycocalyx in bacterial cell is for protection. Plasma membrane and cytoplasm are present in both eukaryotic and prokaryotic cells.
