Which graph do you use to calculate the growth rate and generation time, the linear or the logarithmic? Why?

Homework Answers

Answer #1

To calculate the growth rate and generation time logarithmic graph is used. Because bacteria growthis occurs in geometric progression. In the good condition to bacteria they dubble their growth rate. The exponential growth of bacteria is due to binary fission and favorable conditions to bacteria doubbles their growth rate. The rate of exponential growth of bacterial culture is expressed as the generation time and doubling time of bacterial function. This is occur during log phase.

Hence it's calculated as G=t/n

G is generation time.
