Answer #1

The cerebral cortex is divided into four main lobes i.e. frontal, parietal, occipital, and temporal. Each lobe performs a specific function -

Frontal lobe- It is associated with movement/motor function, decision-making, problem solving, and planning.

Parietal lobe- It recieves and processes sensory information from various receptors associated with touch, taste, speech, reading, etc.

Occipital lobe- It is the main center for visual processing.

Temporal lobe- This lobe controls functions related to smell, memory, emotion, hearing, and language.

  • Therefore, control of fear occurs in a region of the forebrain outside the cerebral cortex.
