in evolution and evolutionary concepts, how can you explain the large eyes of an owl?
When we go on the concept of evolution, there are two theories which strikes our way..Darwin's theory and Lamarkism.
So lets try to understand this statement by using both concepts:
According to lamark, acquired characters with better adaptation pass on to progenies as he explained in the case of giraff. So here we can say that owl are night hunters with more rod cells. To see in dark their eyes grew larger which lead to better adaptation and this acquired trait was passed to progenies.
What Darwin had been said-Some owls with large eyes arises due to mutation/variation and they were able to see better at night. Those who could see better at night were able to survive and reproduce, thus passed this trait along and evolution of large eyes owl occured.
